For brokers, that makes the condition of the recovered paintings, as well as the search for those still missing, worth watching. A successful recovery may prevent a total theft loss, but if a work has been cut from its frame, dropped or otherwise damaged during the escape, it can open an entirely different set of restoration, valuation and claims questions.
