Frequent, small claims — and a coverage gap nobody’s checked
Most surface water claims aren’t huge. LexisNexis’s figures show ninety percent come in under £5,000, and fewer than 5% top £25,000. River flooding is rarer but roughly twice as severe when it happens, with 12% of those claims running above £25,000. That split matters for more than how a book is priced. It shapes what clients expect a flood claim to look like, and their expectations are usually calibrated to the wrong scenario.
